TURIN – Javier Zanetti has urged the Nerazzurri players to take responsibility for themselves after Inter came away empty-handed from Juventus Stadium.
"It's a tough loss to take, unfortunately," began Inter's vice president in his post-match analysis. "It's partly due to the opposition's strength and partly down to us.
"The moment has come to take responsibility for ourselves and give something extra from now until the end of the season. We need to bring our best to the table. The only way we can get out of this spell is to take things game after game. Unfortunately, we've lost our solidity. We need to get that and our confidence back again."
The difference between the Inter of 2015 and the side we've seen at the beginning of 2016 is all too clear to see.
"The team was settled before and at Christmas we were top of the league. I think now's the time for the lads to show everything they've got. You need character otherwise you won't manage to get through these moments. We have a lot of improving to do."
Zanetti left us with a few more words on tonight's game: "Juventus are solid and have got bags of personality. We came here with the intention of matching them.
"I think tonight was partly down to Juventus' strength but we have to take responsibility for the result as well."
