SESTO SAN GIOVANNI – Primavera boss Stefano Vecchi was delighted with his side's mental toughness after the 2-2 draw with Lazio that sends the Nerazzurri through to the final thanks to the 1-0 win in the first leg.
"It was a tough game for us right up until the 95th minute, which is what we expected," declared the Inter U19 coach to Inter Channel. "We made life difficult for ourselves with two minutes of poor concentration and naivety, but once again we showed the right character and mentality to get the match back under control.
"With the pitch as it was, the game was never going to be pretty from a technical point of view. Our fighting spirit and temperament came to the fore which allows us to keep going right until the end."
Vecchi was also impressed with his team's reaction during the most difficult period of the match: "I have to praise the lads because they didn't give up despite conceding two goals in two minutes. We could even have scored a third."
Finally, he had a few words to say on Inter's group in the Viareggio Cup: "The league, Coppa Italia and Viareggio Cup are important targets. As for our group in the Torneo di Viareggio, traditionally Macedonian teams can be loose cannons, while Spezia are practically playing at home and have a squad that can do well."
