RENATE – Benoit Cauet’s Under 17 Lega Pro side came through a top-of-the-table clash against Renate on Sunday afternoon as Davide Merola’s goal handed the Nerazzurri a 1-0 win over the visitors.
Driving rain had left the playing surface barely serviceable, and so it was perhaps fitting that the winning goal was a header. Pelle whipped in a cross in the 13th minute and Davide Merola guided it home.
The Nerazzurri had chances to sew the game up with first Adorante’s volley and then another Merola effort, but the Renate goalie produced some impressive form to keep the scoreline tight until the end.
