APPIANO GENTILE – Inter Channel caught up with Javier Zanetti for an exclusive interview after the Nerazzurri vice president returned from Argentina following the festive season.
Zanetti was first asked about Inter’s recent away win over Empoli: "I was able to watch the match before boarding. I’m happy we got the win, but now we need to focus on Sunday’s game against Sassuolo because there are no easy games in Serie A."
Zanetti then spoke about the day’s big story – Rodrigo Palacio’s contract extension: "We’re pleased with what Rodrigo has done and is doing – we think he’s a really valuable player, both on the pitch and off of it. I think the fans are happy too – he’s always performed well whenever he’s been called into action.
"It’s a deserved contract extension and I hope he can achieve lots of success at this club. There’s lots of competition this year, but Mancini knows what he can offer and knows he has a real weapon up his sleeve that can contribute from the start or coming off the bench."
