ERICK THOHIR ON INTER AND MESSI

The president chats exclusively to inter.it about the club's present and future. And says the door would always be open for a certain Argentine...

MILAN - During a club meeting to dicuss upcoming social media activities and the possibility of a live Twitter chat with fans, president Erick Thohir commented on recent remarks made by Juan Sebastian Veron about Lionel Messi possibly joining Inter in the past.

"Lionel Messi at Inter? Why not," the president declared. "When he's out of contract at Barcelona that could be a great decision. He would be a star player for us and there would also be an opportunity to involve him further in the club."

Thohir also stressed his satisfaction with Roberto Mancini's work and reiterated his confidence about the club's future.

"Right now we are building a strong, young team under Roberto Mancini - a team that is ready to challenge the best in Europe. We are solid as a team, with a hunger to win. We sit at the top of Serie A after 17 rounds. Our strategy is clear - to return Inter to its rightful place as one of the top ten clubs in the world."
