The Nerazzurri fell behind after eight minutes and were rocked again as Udinese went 2-0 up not long after the restart, but an own-goal saw them handed a way back into the contest on 51 minutes before Zappa hauled Inter level 15 minutes later with a precise shot. Sensing blood, Corti's youngsters went all out for the three points in the closing stages, but both Vitali and Vanheusden were denied by the woodwork as Inter were forced to settle for a point.
