MILAN - "It was a great result against Roma," said president Erick Thohir in an interview with Rai. "The league season lasts 38 games, however, and we're only 11 matches in. There's still a long way to go and there are no easy games in the Italian league but it's important for us to be top of the league.
"The team not only has a lot of quality, they're also mentally strong. We're aiming for a top three finish and that will remain our focus. I don't agree with those claiming the team are not playing well, besides, winning is what matters in the end. We're competitive in Serie A, we have an excellent coach, in the shape of Roberto Mancini, and we have a good project that we believe in."
After the summer signings, should the manager request reinforcements in January, would there be scope for some new faces? "Obviously we will back him but it's important that everyone plays. Besides, in the Roma game some lads played who hadn't previously and performed well. We have enough players for the moment but you never know when it comes to the transfer market."
Jose Mourinho has spoken at length about his love for Inter over the last few weeks: "Mourinho is a great coach with a massive history at Inter but we have Mancini: we believe in our project with him at the helm and we'll continue in this direction. We have no plans to make a change. As for the future, it's hard to talk now about what will happen going forward. It's only natural Mourinho won't spend the next 15 years at Inter, just like Mancini won't at Inter. But Roberto Mancini is the here and now and we're happy with him."
