PERISIC STRIKE BOOKS CROATIA'S SPOT AT EURO 2016

Ivan hit the match-winner as the Croatians defeated Malta to qualify for France 2016 at the expense of Norway, who lost 2-1 to Italy

MILAN - Ivan Perisic bagged the only goal of the game as Croatia edged to a 1-0 win over Malta to claim their spot at next year's European championships in France.

The Nerazzurri forward's 25th-minute strike, his second in four days for his national side, saw Croatia leapfrog Norway into second place in Group H.

The Norwegians had led Italy at the Stadio Olimpico until goals by Alessandro Florenzi and Graziano Pellè turned the tables. Inter duo Andrea Ranocchia and Davide Santon did not feature.
