MILAN – Alex Telles spoke to the media after Inter's triumph over Hellas Verona, expressing his satisfaction at how things are going since he joined the club at the end of the transfer window and revealing that tonight's match-winning goal was 'planned' beforehand.
He began by talking about his own display and how Inter are faring: "I'm happy with my performance and I'm getting better by the day. We're working well during the week. My team-mates and I are trying to play well to please Mancini. People notice when we put in the work – they see it from the results as well. We just need to keep on working."
On today's opposition: "Verona are a team that like to sit back and it was a tough match but we played really well. Now we need to rest up and get back down to work because we have a very difficult game against Fiorentina to come.
"Mancini's backing is important to me and it's great that he wanted me here. It's nice to be able to play for him every day and to play for Inter."
After a fifth consecutive victory, Inter are looking forward: "We're delighted with our five wins but now we must knuckle down because we have an extremely tough game against Fiorentina coming up.
"Italian teams know how to defend really well and Mancini is always explaining that to us. That's why you need to put in the work. I'll keep working hard to try and keep my place in the team."
The man who whipped in the corner for his former Galatasaray team-mate to score the game's only goal then revealed: "I spoke to Felipe before the game started and we said it would be great if one of us could set the other up to score!"
Can Inter aim for the Scudetto? "Yes, we can given the size and history of this club, but it's a really tough league.
"Juventus? There are lots of very strong sides. You just have to keep winning and picking up the three points.
"I'm happy because we're scoring goals but we're not conceding because we're solid at the back. It's easy to get on with Medel is good."
