MILAN - Samir Handanovic was keen to underline the importance of tonight's victory after Inter emerged victorious from a fiercely contested Milan Derby.
"It was a tough game but we knew it was going to be," the big Slovene said. "It was important to win it and it's great for morale. Neither side clearly outplayed the other but we had the upper hand at times. Inter have always had big ambitions."
If the Nerazzurri kept a clean sheet it's partly thanks to a number of fine saves by Samir. "It's my job to save shots and you expect to have a few tricky ones in a derby."
Next up for Inter are Chievo Verona, who currently sit second in the table after taking seven points from their first three games, including a draw at Juventus Stadium last night. Handanovic is aware of the task ahead, admitting: "We'll have another big battle on our hands against Chievo next week.
"The gaffer wants us to always play the ball and not just hoof it long. That's what we work on in training. Sometimes we manage it, other times we don't - because there's always another team out there."
