HERNANES: "WE'RE A GROWING TEAM"

The Brazilian midfielder sees a bright future for Inter: "It's going to be our year. I've won with Miranda before and hopefully we can repeat that success here"

BRUNICO - Hernanes believes Inter are a team on the up despite their pre-season teething difficulties and is eyeing a successful campaign with the help of the new signings the club has made.

As the Nerazzurri continue their summer preparations in the mountains of Val Pusteria, the Brazilian midfielder told Mediaset: "I see a team that's growing all the time. I think it's going to be our year more than my year."

Recent friendly results haven't been much to write home about but Hernanes insists there is no cause for concern.

"It's all part of the process of growth," he said. "We're working to get better. It's not about beating other teams at the moment but on improving ourselves."

The summer transfer window has seen a host of new faces join the club, including Brazil defender Miranda. Hernanes feels his compatriot's arrival could be an opportunity for him to replicate past glory.

"I played with Miranda at Sao Paulo from 2007 to 2010 and we were room-mates. We enjoyed success there together and I hope we can now repeat that here."

With the media reporting that the Brazilian contingent at Inter could soon be further bolstered, the 30-year-old was asked to comment on the possible arrival of Felipe Melo.

"He would be a great signing if he joins, though I haven't played with him much before and I don't really know him very well, unlike Miranda," he said.

Finally, the midfielder restated his determination to triumph with Inter and issued something of a rallying cry for his team-mates.

"I want to stay at Inter and help this club be successful. I'm sure that if we go into every game as if it were a battle, in the end we can win the war," he concluded.
