GUANGZHOU – Nerazzurri midfielder Hernanes took questions from some of the journalists present after Inter’s 0-3 defeat to Real Madrid in China this evening: "We played very well in the first half and created chances that we should have scored from. Then they scored their first goal and began to dominate. They were the better side in the second half but we started very positively.
"We knew that our main target here wasn’t to win the matches. Obviously it would have been better to win but we’ve worked very hard and played a lot of matches, so we’re a bit tired. We know that Real Madrid are one of the best teams in the world and we matched them in the first half. They were able to make their quality show at the end of the day," declared Hernanes.
"We came here to prepare for the season ahead. We’ve had lots of matches close together as well as lots of training sessions. Perhaps we could have done better in terms of our results, but we’ve prepared for the season well," continued the Brazilian.
Hernanes then spoke about the Nerazzurri’s failure to find the net during their stay in China: "I don’t think pre-season is about scoring goals or not. Obviously we want to score and to win football matches, but I want to reiterate that our focus has been on fitness."
There was a final word for impending arrival Stevan Jovetic: "He’s a great player who has performed well in Italy before."
