MILAN – His was the first goal of Inter’s record-breaking Scudetto season in 1988/89. It came on 9 October 1988 in the Nerazzurri’s 1-3 win over Ascoli, the first of an array of victories that secured that unforgettable title.
Andrea Mandorlini, the Ravenna-born defender who donned the Nerazzurri jersey for seven seasons, turns 55 today. As well as the glorious 1988/89 Scudetto, Mandorlini also won the Italian Super Cup in 1990 and UEFA Cup in 1990/91 with Inter.
