FASSONE: "NEW SAN SIRO WILL BE OUR HOME"

Managing director talks to Sky Italia about Inter's potential ownership of the Meazza, the club's transfer business, Gary Medel's recent success and Mohamed Salah

RISCONE DI BRUNICO – Marco Fassone managed to divert his attention away from the stunning view of mountain scenery up at Plan de Corones, where the Nerazzurri had lunch today, to give an interview to Sky Italia.

"We had a really nice chat with Reinhold Messner. He's the perfect person to promote this beautiful area where we're staying this year," began Inter's general manager referring to Brunico, where the Nerazzurri's summer training camp is based.

The topic soon turned to the transfer market. "As a club, we're doing our best to create the ideal conditions for everyone to work in. There are another 50 days to go before the transfer window closes and we're only halfway there. We're working on the areas where we're still a bit short, such as up front. We're happy with things in midfield and defence but our squad is too big so we need to work on outgoing transfers too. Sadly we'll have to let some people go because there's a new rule in place and we can only register 25 players. Our priority is to bolster our attacking options. Podolski has left and he has to be replaced."

Asked about the recent controversy surrounding Mohamed Salah and Fiorentina, Fassone went on: "We weren't happy with the way it was handled. Now we're waiting to see how it will all end."

He also had a quick word to say on the stadium: "We've worked together with AC Milan on this. We're looking to make substantial investment to ensure that Inter can have their own home. Two club-owned stadiums would make they city of Milan something of a forerunner."

Finally, the managing director spoke about Gary Medel, who recently lifted the Copa America with Chile. "He played loads of games in June and did superbly at the Copa America. He remains a key member of our team."
