MILAN - This season Inter will play in a unique away kit that evokes the club’s past triumphs and its close historical bond with the city of Milan.
The 2015/16 away kit is in clean, classic white and sports a modern update on the traditional black and blue horizontal chest band, a recurring feature of Inter away shirts since the Sixties, and notably in 1990/91.
The new away kit celebrates the 25th anniversary of this historic season in which Inter Milan claimed their first UEFA Cup, sparking an unprecedented run of success in the tournament. In the space of seven seasons the club claimed three UEFA Cups, adding the 1993/94 and 1997/98 trophies.
A bold twist invigorates the traditional Inter chest band. It features a subtle yet striking tonal black and blue print that depicts a snake’s scales.
The coiled snake and the detail of its textured scales reveal themselves only upon close inspection – from a distance the band appears to be formed of uniform black and blue panels.
The snake, Il Biscione, has been synonymous with Milan since the 13th century, featuring on the emblems of two of Milan’s ruling families, and this icon also graced the 2010/11 Inter away kits.
Black and blue feature not only in the chest band but also in a trim around the back of the shirt’s modern crew neck collar, a proud reference to Inter’s famous home colours.
A blue stripe runs down each of the shirt’s flanks, continuing along the sides of the white shorts.
The new away socks are entirely white with a wide stripe of tonal chevrons on the calf.
While this new kit represents a proud symbol of the club, it offers players the very latest in performance innovation, fabric technology, moisture management and environmental sustainability.
The Inter Away kit will be on sale from nike.com, Nike Stores, store.inter.it, the Solo Inter Store in Brunico and selected retailers from July 9.
