BERLIN - Nerazzurri president Erick Thohir is currently in Berlin, where he was invited to attend an event bringing together all 22 previous European Cup/Champions League winners in the year of UEFA's 60th birthday.
This is what he had to say to Sky Italia in an interview before this evening's Champions League final:
"It's good to be in Berlin for the Champions League final, which we're going to host in Milan next year.
"Who will I support? I'd like to congratulate both teams; they're both very good sides. It doesn't really matter to me who wins but it's good for Serie A that Italian sides have done so well in Europe this season. We need to make Serie A more solid.
"Icardi's renewal? We're working very hard to build a strong team. We need to support Roberto Mancini and Icardi will be one of our future stars. We want to build a big team together with Roberto Mancini.
"Who will be the next signing? I don't know. It depends on the market. I don't like to say any names because you never know how the talks will go. Of course we want to make sure we have a good summer and we've brought in some good players in the last few transfer windows. The most important thing is not who we bring in but the fact that we want to build a solid team.
"Mancini's request for eight or nine players? We've already signed some actually – Murillo is coming, for example. It's not about the number; the most important thing is that the players are able to play as a team for Inter. I don't believe in a team full of superstars. I believe in a team of players who fight and give their very best for Inter."
