MILAN – The wait was finally over for Inter Primavera this afternoon as they discovered who they will be facing in the Final Eight stage of the 2014/15 U19s championship. Inter will take on Lazio in Savona on Tuesday 9 June at 21:00 CET.
"They’re the toughest opponent. It’ll be difficult, considering how well the Biancocelesti have been doing over the last few years and their recent Coppa Italia win. But I think they’ll be thinking the same thing about us," declared Primavera coach Stefano Vecchi.
"They’ll be more up to speed because they have already played some playoff games. We’ll be fresher but we’ll have to immediately adjust to the intensity of these types of matches. The team is in good shape – the lads have always trained well and from tomorrow we’ll regain the players who’ve been with the first team. Mancini wanted to have a look at our young players, but now we need to bring the group back together and try to make the most of this situation," explained Vecchi.
The Primavera boss reserved a special word for Federico Dimarco, who made his first-team debut against Empoli last night: "It makes us proud because Federico grew up in our youth academy. He still needs to improve a lot but Mancini has a high opinion of him, so he certainly has that advantage."
