RANOCCHIA, JUAN JESUS AT SAN SIRO METRO STATION

Nerazzurri pair special passengers on the Purple Line as the underground stop at the Meazza is renamed 'San Siro Stadio Mediaset Premium'

MILAN – The recently opened metro station in San Siro was officially named 'San Siro Stadio Mediaset Premium' today with Nerazzurri duo Andrea Ranocchia and Juan Jesus among those attending the ceremony.

They were joined at the new underground stop on the Purple Line - which takes fans to within a stone's throw of the Stadio Meazza - by AC Milan players Marco van Ginkel and Giacomo Bonaventura, Sport Mediaset director Alberto Brandi, Mediaset Premium CEO Franco Ricci, Milan transport councillor Pierfrancesco Maran and ATM (Milan Transport Company) president Bruno Rota.

Nerazzurri skipper Ranocchia told journalists: "The new metro line is really useful, besides being modern, safe and eco-friendly. I was really surprised to learn that it runs without a driver. It's a fast, convenient way to get around. I'd never taken the Purple Line before but I often use the other lines."

He then commented briefly on Inter's new shirt for the 2015/16 season, unveiled to fans at an exclusive presentation ceremony at the Meazza last night: "It's a beautiful shirt. At last we get back to wearing Inter's real colours."

Brazilian defender Juan Jesus was asked about the metro journey he took. "It was comfortable and fun. If we win, I'll take the metro home with our fans. Hopefully we can do that on Sunday night after the match against Empoli.

"Inter need to get straight back into Europe. We've been out of the Champions League for four years now; it's time for us to get back in it."
