2015 PREMIO GENTLEMAN FAIR PLAY AWARDS

Mancini given a special career award, Icardi named 'Gentleman Inter', Kovacic wins 'Goal of the Season' and Gnoukouri is 'Inter Revelation'

MILAN – The 20th edition of the Premio Gentleman Fair Play awards was held at Teuliè military school last night with a number of Nerazzurri stars picking up honours on the night.

Mateo Kovacic claimed the 'Best Inter Goal of 2014/15' gong for his stunning volley against Lazio while Mauro Icardi was named this year's 'Gentleman Inter'.

Roberto Mancini was called up on stage to collect a special career award. He said: "We're working to improve. I ask the Inter fans to have faith as I do."

Assane Gnoukouri took this year's 'Inter Revelation' prize while there was also a special award handed to former Nerazzurri idol Dejan Stankovic for scoring the best goal of the last 20 years (his incredible volleyed strike from the centre circle aganist Schalke in 2001).

Shortly before the event got underway, Assane Gnoukouri answered questions from the journalists present: "I'm delighted to be here tonight with the other players. I'd like to thank everyone.

"Can we get into the Europa League? Yes, we still hope we can. We want to beat Genoa.

"Toure? Yes, I'd like to play alongside him. He's a world-class performer but I don't know if he'll join. We already have lots of quality players at Appiano, people like Palacio, Podolski, Shaqiri, and I enjoy playing with and learning from them, as I enjoy working with Mancini."

Inter's aim is now to end the season with two wins. "They're like two finals, we must win these two games."

Asked about his recent showing in the Milan derby, the Ivorian replied: "That game is in the past. All I care about now is playing more. I want to play for Inter."

Andrea Ranocchia also spoke to the media. "We still have a chance of getting into Europe and we have to pull out all the stops to win these last two matches, at Genoa and at home to Empoli, then hope that other results go our way."

An assessment of the season? Neither positive nor negative. It's been a difficult year but I've always managed to bounce back and improve. Being the captain is a challenge but I have lots of years ahead of me and I want to help make Inter great again.

"Once we get a pre-season under our belts with Mancini I'm sure we'll be able to do what we haven't managed to do this year. The president and the coach are working to put together a winning team for next year.

"Announce my contract renewal? The club will do that."
