APPIANO GENTILE – With Inter’s Serie A Week 34 match against Chievo fast approaching, Danilo D’Ambrosio found time to speak about the Nerazzurri’s good form and of the importance of the Chievo clash in the fight to qualify for the Europa League.
"Over the last few games, I think the team has taken a step forward in terms of its mentality. That’s down to the work Roberto Mancini has been doing with us. He made his feelings known after the Udinese match and he was right. We let a team of nine men get the upper hand for 20 minutes," began D’Ambrosio.
"Mistakes like the ones at Udinese are down to the group’s psychological level. Our intensity and tactics are improving but we need to ensure we get better from a mental perspective too," he continued.
Asked whether the race for the Europa League would come down to the fixture list, D’Ambrosio said: "It’s down to us. The boss has installed a mentality and it’s down to us to respond to his requests. I want to believe that we’re in control of our destiny. When we play we’re only focused on ourselves and on our abilities on the field. We’ll take stock at the end of the season."
On the prospect of reinforcements in his position, D’Ambrosio cut a relaxed figure: "I’m not afraid of competition. Inter is Inter and it’s only right that the club wants the best players."
