MILAN - The Zanetti and Friends' Match for EXPO was unveiled today in the Alessi room at Palazzo Marino. The game will played on Monday 4 May at the San Siro (kick-off 20:45) and will see a number of top stars from the world of sport, who had no hesitation in accepting the invitation of the Nerazzurri vice president and the PUPI Foundation.
"It's an honour and a privilege to welcome you here for our second meeting ahead of the match on 4 May. It's now just seven days away and a lot of work has been done since 5 February. I'm very proud of what we've achieved. I would also like to thank publically all of my colleagues who have signed up, confirming their commitment to the start of EXPO and supporting such an important charity." This is what Javier Zanetti had to say at the press conference unveiling the event.
Zanetti and Friends' Match for EXPO Milano 2015 aims to raise funds to help children have a healthy upbringing. The event is run directly by the PUPI Foundation (www.fondazionepupi.org) and the proceeds from ticket sales for the match will go to supporting projects in Milan.
The initiative has been made possible thanks to the support of major partners, including Pirelli: "We're very happy to work alongside Javier Zanetti and the PUPI Foundation again this year, as part of an important charity event," said Marco Tronchetti Provera, president and CEO of Pirelli. "Last year we were involved in the Match for Peace, this year we're here for the Match for EXPO, which will not only support social projects in Milan but also mark the start of EXPO. We'll see passion, teamwork and solidarity on display on the pitch, thanks to participation of great players from all the over the world, fans and everyone who has worked to organise and support this event."
