MILAN - The Derby della Madonnina is a match that always gets fans tingling with excitement. And players too. Just ask Evaristo Beccalossi.
The former midfielder, 216 games and 37 goals for the club during a six-year spell in the '70s and '80s, lived through many a derby and knows exactly what they're about.
"When I was a player, I would start getting excited about the derby a week before. I used to see that packed San Siro in my dreams," he revealed on Inter Channel's Radio Inter programme this afternoon.
Inter v AC Milan is one of a kind: no other game is capable of stirring up quite the same feelings. The Meazza heaving, the Nerazzurri faithful urging the team on. "You need to be prepared for it, focused and fired up. The mental side makes all the difference," Beccalossi stressed.
The 1979/80 Scudetto winner went on to underline his confidence in the club and Roberto Mancini. "I'm sure Inter will be competitive again next season. Mancini has come back with the aim of taking Inter back to the top. He's an experienced coach and with the club behind him he'll be able to put together a great team."
