MILAN – There’s been much to smile about for Xherdan Shaqiri and Samir Handanovic tonight as both Nerazzurri stars enjoyed victories in Euro 2016 qualifiers. Switzerland beat Estonia 3-0, whilst Slovenia thrashed San Marino 6-0.
Shaqiri started for Switzerland against Estonia, playing the whole 90 minutes and proving decisive in each of his side’s three goals. It was his cross from the right that set up Schar to put the Swiss ahead, his layoff to tee up Xhaka for 2-0 and his assist in the penalty box for Seferovic to complete the scoring late on.
Handanovic had a decidedly less eventful evening, however, as his Slovenia side might light work of San Marino in a 6-0 drubbing of the Euro minnows.
