MILAN – San Siro will welcome Gianfranco Bedin, Tarcisio Burgnich, Mario Corso, Gabriele Gualazzini, Aristide Guarneri, Mario Mereghetti, Carlo Soldo and Luis Suarez tonight, members of La Grande Inter side who contested the 1967 European Cup final against Celtic.
Also in attendance will be Gianfelice, Barbara and Luca Facchetti – children of the legendary Giacinto – and Francesca and Gianmarco Picchi, wife and son of Armando.
Names that invoke unforgettable memories and provide the ideal backdrop for a match where past and present interlink. Inter Forever was determined to bring together the stars of La Grande Inter as guests of honour for the Europa League match with Celtic, to pay tribute to the successes of two sides synonymous with European football.
Two jerseys from that final have been kindly lent by Tarcisio Burgnich for exhibition in the San Siro museum for the occasion. Meanwhile, the Nerazzurri legends will dine in the Top Club lounge alongside Benito Carbone, Nazzareno Canuti, Francesco Colonnese, Riccardo Ferri, Massimo Paganin and Nicola Ventola. Unfortunately, Celtic’s Lisbon Lions are unable to attend, but they will most certainly by there in spirit.
Multiple generations brought together under the Inter flag, ready to cheer Roberto Mancini’s side into the last 16.
