MANCINI: "WE NEED TO BE ON TOP FORM FOR 90 MINUTES"

The Nerazzurri coach gave his opinion on Inter’s vital 1-2 win over Cagliari in Sardinia

CAGLIARI – Inter boss Roberto Mancini spoke to the press after his side made it nine points from three games at the Stadio Sant’Elia tonight: "If we didn’t make life difficult for ourselves we wouldn’t be Inter. After an incredible first half, we ended up struggling. Longo came on and caused us problems with a great performance.

"When you’re two goals to the good it’s easy to let your concentration drop, but I don’t want that to happen. We need to be on top form for 90 minutes. But it’s important to underline the fact that we played some excellent football in the first half and dominated the game.

"I’m happy for Kovacic, he played very well tonight and scored a lovely goal. What’s more, he’s a good lad and deserves success. He’s a starter, but so are Kuzmanovic and Hernanes. The disappointment is that we dropped off at 0-2 up – that was our mistake this evening.

"Icardi? He had a great game. He worked hard for the team and was really involved in our play. That’s what he has to do every game.  Cagliari’s goal was all down to Longo. I should congratulate him rather than look at my own players. Podolski also had a good night and I’m sure the goals will come – he’s a natural goal-scorer," declared Mancini.
