GLASGOW – Nerazzurri skipper Andrea Ranocchia was sat alongside Roberto Mancini at today's UEFA Europa League media conference to discuss tomorrow's round-of-32 first-leg meeting with Celtic.
He said: "It's going to be a great match. This is the sort of game that helps you become a better player, the sort that helps younger players mature. The venue is fantastic and the fans very passionate. Both clubs have rich histories."
The Italy centre-back was asked about his fitness. "I'm fine. I'm available for selection as I have been for the last few matches. There's no cause for concern because I'm fine both physically and mentally. I've come under fire this season but I think I've grown. I'm the captain and I want to play an important role for this team. Besides trying to carry out what the gaffer asks me, I want to become more aggressive.
"Is there pressure on us to make up for the 1967 European Cup final? In 1967 my dad was two years old so it's not something we can relate to all that much; it's just a nice memory for them to have. We're here to play football and it'll be a rush to play in a stadium like this with these fans."
