BERGAMO – Fresh from scoring a wonderful brace and playing a decisive role in each of his side’s other two goals, Fredy Guarin gave his take on a great day for the Nerazzurri: "We’ve been having a tough time of it but that’s two wins in a row now. We’re playing well and the team is enjoying an important spell.
"Having the confidence of the coach is absolutely vital, both for individual players and the team as a whole. The boss brings bags of enthusiasm every single day – I’m feeling good and I’d like to thank the coach, the technical staff and all my team-mates for the faith they’ve shown in me.
"I dedicated my brace to my children. I’d had the t-shirt for a while, so I’m pleased I wore it today. I apologise if it seemed like I was provoking the Atalanta fans as I was just happy to have scored. I’m not that kind of player so that absolutely was not my intention.
"Everything’s coming together. The most important thing is the team’s performance, because that helps individual players to do even better. Mancini’s faith has been fundamental to us. It’s really important that we’ve started winning. Can I be a leader in the future? Well, it was different when the likes of Zanetti were here, but now I always try and play like a leader on the pitch," declared Guarin.
