MILAN - Roberto Mancini was quite rightly very pleased with his Inter side's performance against Palermo at the San Siro tonight: "Things are different when you win but this is the same side that played at Napoli. Things are starting to go our way, but I really believe we'd already played well before tonight. Today though we put on a good display and won the match.
"You need to celebrate scoring goals but I imagine that's in response to last Sunday. Nevertheless the crowd clapped Icardi and I think everything's all right after tonight. We still need to improve and if we want to get the results we deserve we can't make individual mistakes.
"Fredy played well as part of a two-man central midfield because he's a good footballer, he can play as part of a two or a three in midfield and perform equally well. Medel is the most-suited to sitting deep as part of a three-man midfield.
"I'm happy with Brozovic because he's young and he's not 100% fit. He's got great ability and can play as part of a two-man central midfield like he does with Modric for Croatia. We're very happy to have him here.
"The most important thing when it comes to having a balanced midfield is the way you approach the game. Three in the middle offers your defence more protection but I maintain the side has played well with two in there too.
"We proved we're a team that can show what we can offer on the pitch. Recently we've played better than our results suggest. I was above all disappointed for the lads recently because they were so willing and worked so hard for me."
