MILAN – A few minutes with Diego Milito is enough for you to understand just how fondly Il Principe remembers that match against Juventus on 3 November 2012. You can almost feel the heady atmosphere of that night in Turin. And what a night it turned out to be, for the Argentine striker and for the black and blue side of Milan as a whole.
"You’re very focused in your preparation when you play Juventus, concentrating on every tiny detail. We always knew that it was going to be an extremely tough match," explains the Nerazzurri legend.
"It’s not just any old game – it’s different. It’s the Derby d’Italia. For us players and for the fans it’s a hugely important match," Milito continues.
"I’ll never forget that match at Juventus Stadium for many reasons. Firstly – and this still gives me great satisfaction – the result meant we became the first team to go to their new stadium and win. Then, of course, I scored my two goals and to do that at their place is an amazing thing.
"Finally, as a team we really put in a fantastic performance that night to fight back from a goal down. It was an amazing feeling," concludes Il Principe.
