VECCHI: "WE’RE READY TO GO AGAIN"

The Primavera coach spoke to Inter Channel to recap the first few days’ work of 2015 and analyse the Viareggio Cup draw

MILAN – With the restart of competitive action just around the corner, the Primavera are already hard at work to prepare for the many challenges the New Year is sure to hold.

This morning, of course, Stefano Vecchi’s men found out who they’ll be facing in the group stages of the Viareggio Cup 2015: "The past few years in the competition tell you that the Belgian teams are very strong, so we’ll need to be wary of Genk.

"Parma are a very good team too, though we don’t know a great deal about Pro Duta. We’re looking forward to facing off against them and I’m sure the Inter management team will be pleased to have been drawn with an Indonesian club," stated Vecchi.

The Nerazzurri Primavera coach looked back on his side’s last match of 2014, the defeat against Roma which saw Inter knocked out of the Tim Cup: "It was a self-inflicted defeat. We gifted them two goals but we played relatively well. As we all know, you just can’t commit that type of mistake against the top teams. Having said that, we’ve drawn a line under that performance and we’re ready to go again, chalking it down to experience."

Just like the first-team squad, the Primavera have been using the winter break to recharge their batteries ahead of the upcoming league and cup challenges: "This is a very important time because we need to work on a variety of aspects. The lads still need to develop in many areas of the game, so we’re going to be working hard to prepare for our three league games before the Viareggio Cup. When the cup does come around, we’ll be doing all we can to give a good account of ourselves."
