VECCHI: "SO FAR, SO GOOD. BUT WE CAN GET BETTER"

The coach weighs up the first half of the season in charge of the Nerazzurri Primavera side

MILAN - Having reached the midway stage of the season and a well-earned rest for himself and his Under-19 side, Stefano Vecchi looked back on a successful first six months in the Primavera hotseat when he spoke to Inter Channel today.

He began: "It's been a very positive opening half of the season, not only for the results we've recorded but also for the number of lads who have been getting in and around the first team. We've won lots of games and we're on the right path. There have been spells where we've seen a side with great character, playing good football and attacking the opposition.

"Obviously we have lots of lads who are still growing so we can expect a lot more from them both physically and technically. We try to improve all aspects of their game because they are talented youngsters and together with my coaching team we try to tailor each player's development to get the best out of them. Football has changed a lot in recent years and it's not always easy to find the motivation to keep on surpassing yourself. But they are within touching distance of realising their dream and I hope lots of them succeed."

Vecchi was then asked to name his favourite match from this first half of the season. He said: "There were no perfect games, although there have been lots that we played very well in. The derbies successes are memorable but so too was our shootout victory over Fiorentina in the cup because we were up against tough opponents."
