MILITO: "THANK YOU TO INTER AND THE FANS"

Il Principe spoke to Inter Channel via telephone interview today: "They’ve shown me such warmth. I’ll never forget everything we won together. I’ll always be an Interista"

APPIANO GENTILE – Fresh from winning the Argentine league with Racing Avellaneda, Diego Milito found time to speak to Inter Channel’s Radio Inter programme today: "I’m delighted for the fans. We hadn’t won the league for 13 years so we’re very happy. We’ve had an incredible season and won six matches on the spin towards the end, so we’re overjoyed.

"We’ll be in the Copa Libertadores next year and we’ll certainly try to be competitive. We know it’s a tough competition which we’ve not been involved in for many years, but we’ll try and play at the level required by such a great tournament," declared Milito.

Il Principe also explained that he’s received – and continues to receive – countless messages of support and congratulations from the Nerazzurri fans: "I’d like to thank all the Inter fans for the warmth they’ve shown me – I’ve got so much love for them. I thank them because they continue to support me even now.

"I still receive messages and they continue to be fantastic with me. I’ll never forget everything we won together. We experienced some truly unique moments and I’ll always be grateful to Inter for everything the club has given me. I’m happy that things are looking up for them and I’ll always be an Interista at heart.

"I’ve had lots of messages from my former colleagues – Pupi, Cuchu, Walter Samuel and Andrea Ranocchia, who I’d like to say a special thank you to because I’ve got a great relationship with him, just like I do with my friend Palacio," continued Milito.

There was even time for a quick word on Francesco Toldo’s Inter Forever project: "Francesco is a fantastic person. I still feel very good so I think I’ve got a bit of time left to play, then we’ll see!"
