INTER PRIMAVERA THROUGH TO COPPA ITALIA QUARTERS

Stefano Vecchi's youngsters finally break down Fiorentina's resistance and emerge victorious from a penalty shootout (3-2) after 120 goalless minutes

FLORENCE – It took 120 minutes and ten penalties but Inter Primavera eventually got the better of Fiorentina to take their place in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals.

It was always going to be a tight affair with both teams top of their respective league groupings, and so it proved as regular time and extra time were played out with neither side able to make the breakthrough. It all came down to a shootout from 12 yards: Dimarco, Bonazzoli and Rocca duly converted to clinch a 3-2 victory.

Stefano Vecchi's now face another tricky test in the quarters: Roma, who currently lead Group C, are their next opponents.
