MILAN – The focus was on youth today at the University of Milan, where a congress entitled The Future of the Youth Academy: the Coach's Role was held this evening. The aim of the conference was to open up a debate on the development of young players, placing the emphasis on sport and on rediscovering the joy of coaching and improving young talent.
Javier Zanetti was a guest speaker at the event and he also wrote the foreword to L'allenatore di settore giovanile (The Youth Academy Coach), by Gianluca Andrissi in collaboration with Luca Bignami.
The Nerazzurri vice president said: "It's an honour for me to be here. It gives me great pride to be able to write a foreword in a book about academy football.
"The things I learnt many years ago when I was a youngster stood me in good stead throughout my career. Football will always be a part of my life and this book covers all sorts of useful topics that can help youngsters to grow. I think the section on values is particularly important: they should be a fundamental part of all sports."
