MAZZARRI: "WORKING TO GET THE FANS BEHIND US"

Nerazzurri boss shares his views with journalists as Inter prepare for tomorrow's home game against Hellas Verona

APPIANO GENTILE – Walter Mazzarri met with the media this afternoon for his traditional pre-match press conference the day before Inter v Hellas Verona.

The manager began by giving his take on tomorrow's opponents: "They've been doing well for a number of years now. Mandorlini has done a magnificent job in starting this cycle. They are well drilled and handy on the break. But I want to see us pick up from where we left off in the first half against Saint-Etienne."

The coach went on to explain that one of club's objectives this season is to blood youth: "We're trying to bring through some of our youngsters and we have four or five playing regularly. Our youngsters are both the future and an asset for this club."

A word on his selection problems: "I still have to speak to everyone and weigh up our injury situation. I can't tell you anything right now. We showed against Saint-Etienne that when we're on top of our game we can cause problems for anyone."

Mazzarri was also asked specific questions about a number of players, starting with his strikers: "We all know how important Palacio is for us. Hopefully he'll soon be back on the goal trail. Bonazzoli can play in several positions but I think he needs to be close to the front man."

On the contrasting fortunes of his Brazilian full-backs: "We always had high hopes for Dodo. He's started really well and he can do even better. As for Jonathan, I'd love to see him training. I've hardly ever had him available. I can't wait to be able to pick him again.

And Vidic: "He had a slip-up but I don't think he's finding it hard."

In the meantime, the coach is focused on the task at hand – getting the most out of the players available to him.

"I won't comment on what the president or management say. As the coach I can say that we need to get off on the right foot. There are certainly situations when the crowd could give the lads a hand. It's my job to focus on how we play: the results come as a consequence of how you play.

"It's up to others to pass judgement on me but we're doing lots of things here. Developing players is different at Inter. I'll always do everything I can for these lads, I'm very happy with them."
