MILAN – Mateo Kovacic spoke to Inter Channel in the aftermath of the Nerazzurri’s late victory over Sampdoria: "These three points are vital for our league standing and our morale. Sampdoria were very dangerous; we need to be more alert in the future. We’ve got seven points in three games and we need to continue in that vein.
"I need to improve my shooting, but Mazzarri and his coaching staff are helping a lot. The manager is calm. I don’t hear the whistles; I’m focused on the match. If you don’t score, you can risk losing the match.
"We’ve had a tough couple of weeks with a match every three days. We must look ahead to Parma. Palacio? Everyone says that if a striker doesn’t score, he’s played badly, but if he puts in the running and helps the team like Rodrigo did tonight, it doesn’t matter if he scores or not.
"I don’t think this was our best performance of the year, though. Hernanes? I love playing alongside him," said Kovacic.
