MILAN – The Ubuntu Fun Walk will take place tomorrow morning from 9:30. The event will see participation from the schools of Milan and is in honour of Nelson Mandela.
The Fun Walk has been organised by the General South African Consulate in Milan, Milan Council’s Wellbeing and Sport Department and the non-for-profit organisation Comunità Nuova. Sponsorship comes from the Regional Committee of Lombardy and the Lombardy Education Department.
The Ubuntu Fun Walk is an opportunity for young people to come together and walk the same route, sharing the fundamental value of Ubuntu. This rests on recognising others not as a source of contrast but as something that enriches our lives.
Departure is scheduled for 9:30 from the Piazza del Duomo. The party will then head off for the Arena Civica of Milan on foot, where there will be an exhibition of the banners made by participants, sporting activities, speeches from important figures and authorities and finally the awarding of a prize for the best banner.
