GIOVANISSIMI NAZIONALI CLAIM SCIREA TROPHY

Bellinzaghi’s lads beat Juventus in comeback victory with goals from Gnoukouri and Merola

CINISELLO BALSAMO – Another year, another trophy. For the second season in a row, Inter won the Scirea Memorial tournament, this time staging a stunning 3-1 comeback win against Juventus in a memorable finale. The result allowed coach Stefano Bellinzaghi’s Giovanissimi Nazionali side to raise the trophy in the most dramatic fashion possible.

It was Lombardi, the Bianconeri’s number 10 player, who put his side in the lead. For a moment all hope seemed lost, before Inter immediately reacted through Gnoukouri, who found the equaliser in the 10th minute.

However, the Nerazzurri were still not satisfied. Gnoukouri once again made a menace of himself in the box as he was brought down by the Juve defence. Merola stepped up to the spot and made no mistake.

The pattern continued in the second half. Inter stayed in command and struck at the first possible opportunity, with Merola adding the third just a few minutes from full time.

And thus, the Giovanissimi Nazionali were able to celebrate winning the tournament for the second year in a row.

From all of us here at FC Internazionale, a heartfelt congratulations for the fantastic victory.
