MAZZARRI: "WE'RE INTER, WE'LL PLAY OUR GAME"

"It's in our DNA, regardless of the opponent. But we'll have to be very careful. They're ahead in fitness right now"

REYKJAVIK – Ahead of Stjarnan v Inter, the first leg of the Europa League play-off round and the first competitive match of the season, Nerazzurri coach Walter Mazzarri and captain Andrea Ranocchia spoke to the press.

The coach began: "A game like this can hold hidden dangers. They’re in top form and unbeaten in six matches. They’ve already advanced three rounds. Their athletic condition is probably better than ours and we’ll have to stay alert so we don’t allow them the opportunity to hit us. We’ll need to be careful. We’ll be facing a dangerous team with quality players.

"After watching video of us they stated themselves they’re probably in better shape as regards the point we’re at in the season. They stressed that we have some weak points ourselves. We’re the ones with something to lose, but we’ll give our all to make sure that doesn’t happen.

"We always look to play our game," the coach stressed. "We’re Inter, so that’s normal for us. We’ll look to do it away from home tomorrow as well. They’ll try to take advantage of our mistakes – the kind of tactical mistakes that can happen at the beginning of the season. We’ll be very alert. We have to play our game regardless of the opponent we’re facing. It’s in our DNA.

"The cold weather? I like it. In cold weather you run more in theory!" [smiling]
