MILAN - Fredy Guarin spoke to the press at the event presenting Nike's new Magista boots.
What will Sunday's game be like?
"It's a tough match against a Sampdoria side who are having a good season. They have a big coach who has given them a lot of strength, getting his team to play a brand of football which has them winning games. We need to think that it will be a very tough game."
You come into the match on the back of a tricky period, following three draws and a defeat. How do you come through this period?
"It's not easy but we need to keep our heads up and with the work we're putting in we have to be able to win this game. We really need to."
Has president Thohir said anything to you?
"His confidence, character and positivity are always there. The last time he came he put across a bit of all of that."
People are saying it's between you and AC Milan for a spot in the Europa League. Do you feel the battle is on with the Rossoneri?
"I can only talk about who we're playing on Sunday, Sampdoria. It's one of the matches we have to play to reach our target, the Europa League. I'm thinking about that game first, then the other matches will follow."
It's a special match for Mauro Icardi against Sampdoria. He won't receive a warm welcome in Genoa...
"Obviously it's his former team. He's doing well and we hope he continues to do so for the good of the club. Is he the new Milito? He's an important player and we really believe in him."
If you were to score a goal, would that help you to relax for the upcoming games?
"Yes, it would be a great feeling. I need one on a personal level, and the team needs it too."
What's your relationship like with the other midfielders?
"I've got a great rapport with all my team-mates."
You've renewed your contract so now you can finish your career at Inter. Is that what you were expecting?
"I've signed a new three-year deal and I hope to stay."
