Uno su Mille is broadcast on RaiSport 1, channel 57, every Tuesday at 21:00. Tomorrow's episode will focus on a report from Hergla, the home of Inter Campus Tunisia.
It was the usual Inter Campus visit: emotional working with the boys and girls of Hergla and intense training the local educator-coaches, in the presence of a special guest.
Chief editor of RaiSport Marco Civoli and film-maker Andrea Rinaldi joined the Inter Campus team - comprising Massimo Seregni, Silvio Guareschi and Nicoletta Flutti - to learn more about the project in Tunisia.
Created in November 2012 as the organisation met the United Nations, Inter Campus Tunisia is the charity's newest venture. The scheme is supported by two local partners, the Tanit Assocation - whose president is Enrico Uncini - and El Mustakbal (The Future) Association under Nawfel Ben Romdhane.
More than 200 boys and girls and eight local educators take part in the activities run in a primary school, in an area largely forgotten by international tourists, where the only landmarks outside school hours are the mosque and now Inter Campus.
Inter Campus and its local partners' shared mission is to organise sporting and educational activities to better integrate children from poorer rural areas (Laaribet and Soyeh) with those in the village, bringing girls and female educators together through the power of sport. They also support efforts to involve the local people in the project, through initiatives such as decorating and looking after the school building, and organising clean-up operations to remove rubbish from the streets and beaches.
Everyone is very capable and keen to take part, something which was seen by the warm welcome we received, as well as the speed at which the project is developing. We've also noticed a marked improvement in coaching, teaching and the way things are run in general.
