CERRONE: "SATISFIED WITH PERFORMANCE, NOW FOR THE DERBY"

Primavera coach reflected on a solid 5-0 win over Ternana: "I tried to shake the boys up at half time. Morale high, one final push before the break"

TERNI – Primavera coach Salvatore Cerrone reflected on another dominant display from his young charges after watching them beat Ternana 5-0 this afternoon.

He said: "I tried to shake the boys up a bit at half time. We did very well in the first 25 minutes but then we took our foot off the pedal. I wasn't happy with that so I urged them to play the second half the same way they did in the early stages of the first period, when we were more compact and always first to the ball. And they did what I asked of them.

"We can't afford a lull like that. The match lasts 90 minutes and there are no easy games. Overall I can see improvement. I see the result of the work we're doing during the week on our mentality – that's something you could already notice against Varese.

"We're getting a nice bit of consistency going, even though we try to change a few players around each time. It's always good when you can give all the lads a bit of playing time, as long as we keep playing as a team. That has to be our strength. I have plenty of options to choose from but the lads must always be ready because I could call on them at any time.

"You can go a long way if you get the mental side your game right. Part of my job, and all of the coaching staff's job, is to bring all the players along, improve the whole squad, without making any distinctions. That's something you get satisfaction from doing.

"Now we have to get back to work in the right frame of mind. Of course morale is sky high when you win and you train differently. We have to start again and build up for one last big push before the break. The derby is always an exciting game to be involved in."
