AUSILIO: "WE'LL DO EVERYTHING IN OUR POWER TO GET BACK ON THE RIGHT TRACK"

Sporting director's comments to Sky Sport Italia

MILAN - Nerazzurri sporting director Piero Ausilio spoke to Sky Sport Italia just before the start of Inter v Parma. Here's what he had to say:

"I'm not surprised by the great welcome Cassano received, the hugs with our staff prove how happy he was here at Inter. Today he plays for Parma though and he's doing well, we're all moving on.

"We've been drawing a few and they've been different types of games, but the Sampdoria match came after a number of good performances. We're producing a determined side, and we'll do everything we can to get back on the right track.

"Kovacic's position on the pitch? Walter Mazzarri has three quality players in the shape of Kovacic, Guarin and Alvarez, who give him a lot of different options. It's an advantage to have such good players, and however we start I'm sure we'll see some interesting things.

"Belfodil? He's improving, he's working well. We think he's at his best as a support striker: he had to play centre forward against Trapani, that perhaps wasn't the ideal situation for him but he still did very well. He's young, he's applying himself and has great quality. We often forget just how young some of the guys are, like him, Kovacic and Taider. But I'm sure that with time they will come on, as has happened with Alvarez recently for example.

"We're all tested in every game. We started with a slightly bigger squad, as we preferred to have 2 or 3 extra players. As we've got so many players, we might think about trimming the squad in January before we consider bringing anyone in, and we'll need to let a few go.

"Botta? He's a great prospect, in the future we'll have the chance to weigh up what to do. It's hard to regain full fitness after a serious injury, but he'll have the time to do it.

"Icardi? Let's forget his tweets, we'll just focus on Icardi the footballer and he's working very hard to come back. This is the main thing the club is interested in and it needs to matter above all to him."
