MILAN - President Erick Thohir spoke to Inter Channel after watching his first Inter game at the Stadio Meazza against Sampdoria.
He began by describing what his first impression was like: "It was unbelievable, there was a great crowd. It's my first match in San Siro and it would have been better to win obviously. I think we played very well in the first half."
When you don't kill the game off, you always risk being pegged back: "Yes, that's what happened and it's what makes football so wonderful - it's not just an entertaining game but you can also have drama."
On the meeting with ex-Nerazzurri players before the match: "It was good to have all the players together before the game because most of them have done something for Inter to make Inter what it is today. Some players became legends, some played only one game, but they have all contributed to Inter."
On the immediate future: "I'm looking forward to the next games, the derby especially, and hopefully it's going to be an exciting game to see. I'll be here again for the derby because it's good to support the team. That's why I went to see them in the locker room afterwards – to give them support. I think the team will improve. We have to be good for the 90 minutes, not only 45.
"The camera was on me a lot during the match? Yes, you could see that. You can't hide from it!"
The president concluded: "At the end of the day, we have to accept the result. It was a good match, but obviously we can do better in the future."
