LANCIANO – Inter's Primavera side coached by Salvatore Cerrone saw off Virtus Lanciano 1-3 this afternoon to clock up their third win in a row.
The hosts, second from bottom before this game, took an early lead when Verna stabbed him from close range following a goalmouth scramble. Cerrone called on his troops to up the pace of their play but they were unable to create any clear-cut chances until Lorenzo Tassi decided to pull a rabbit out of his hat in the 33rd minute. Collecting the ball from Ventre some 25 yards from goal, the midfielder shook off his marker before curling an absolute peach of a strike into the top corner leaving the opposition keeper no chance whatsoever.
It was 1-1 at the break but Inter took the game by the scruff of the neck after the restart with a quickfire double around the hour mark. Bonazzoli notched his fourth of the season when set up by Camara in the 58th minute then three minutes later – after Ivusic had pulled off a superb stop to deny Barone an equaliser – Bonazzoli turned provider, driving a low delivery across the box for Ventre to turn in at the far post.
The victory sees the Under-19s move up to 21 points and consolidate their grip on third place behind Chievo and Atalanta with a game in hand.
