Today the defender - via Inter Channel - wanted to thank everyone that has helped him achieve this prestigious honour: "I'm happy and honoured to have received this award, but it's not just for me. I have to thank all of my team-mates who allow me to play to my best level, as well as the fans who support me. I'd also like to thank the Japanese national team because I'm very proud to be a part of that side. I still have to improve a lot and I'll work very hard to do so, I have to progress. As soon as they physically give me the award I'll bring it to Italy and we'll all celebrate together."
