ZANETTI: "I FEEL GOOD, BUT I'M NOT EXPECTING ANYTHING. I NEED TO FIND MY FORM"

Nerazzurri captain at an evening organised to celebrate 12 years of the PUPI Foundation: "My team-mates are doing well, I'm ready and that's great"

MILAN - An event was organised this evening to mark the 12th anniversary of the PUPI Foundation, a charity set up by Javier Zanetti and his wife Paula to help disadvantaged children in Argentina. The captain took the opportunity to speak to the press, giving them an update on his fitness: "I feel good and I hope to have the chance to play against Livorno, I need to rediscover my best form but I don't expect anything because my team-mates are doing well. I'll be available for selection and that's already a great result.

"Where will I play? The coach and I haven't spoken about my position. The team's going very well as it is and I will take my time to rediscover my best form. I'm thinking about what I was hoping for after my operation, to come back for at least one game, and I hope it's more than one." What if Saturday marks the last match with Massimo Moratti as president? "I've spent some great moments with him, I'll be very proud if I have the chance to play but I believe that the most important thing for Moratti is the result."

The skipper also spoke about his colleague Diego Milito ("He really wants to be back playing, he's very important for us and it's not easy to come back from a muscle injury. He's champing at the bit to be playing again as soon as he can") and of the possibility of him moving upstairs at Inter: "You know that my idea is to stay tied to this great family. I hope to be of use, as I have been on the pitch."

Finally the captain gave his thoughts on the exchange of words between Inter and the Argentine Football Association: "I think there's been a misunderstanding, the most important thing is that Campagnaro's fit and once he's recovered he'll do his best for Inter and Argentina. Yes, this is a World Cup year, it's a big season for everyone, but if you don't perform for your club you'll struggle to make it to Brazil and Hugo is well aware of that. He's a professional and he's doing everything he can to regain full fitness."

Later Zanetti spoke exclusively to Inter Channel about his foundation: "The last 12 years have been wonderful and this evening we've seen that we're bigger than ever. Without you guys we couldn't move forward in this difficult time and everyone has shown they have big hearts. One of the reasons I want to go back to playing is to stop giving so many interviews! All jokes aside, we've travelled all over to make people aware of what the Fundacion does. I honestly believe that it's already a great result that I'm ready to play again. Returning to action in a home game would be a dream come true, let's hope it's the next one."
