MAZZARRI: "UDINESE A TOUGH PROPOSITION"

"They bring in lots of new players every year but retain their identity. Guidolin is a great coach whose teams are hard to beat"

APPIANO GENTILE – "We know we're in for a tough game tomorrow." Walter Mazzarri was under no illusions about the quality of tomorrow's opponents as he addressed the media during his pre-match conference this morning.

He continued: "Udinese bring in lots of new players every year and yet they retain their identity. They have a great coach, who does an excellent job both with youngsters and more experienced campaigners, and his teams are hard to beat."

The reporters asked for an update on the fitness of Handanovic, Icardi and Campagnaro. "We'll have to look at Handanovic today. The same goes for Icardi, so that we can see if he might be able to put in even a short shift towards the end of the match, since we're almost down to the bare bones in attack. I don't think Campagnaro will be available tomorrow because he hasn't even trained with the rest of the team yet."

What about Samuel? Could he start his second match in a row after making his comeback in midweek? And could Taider make a return to the starting line-up? "I'm waiting to speak to Samuel. He certainly did very well last time out. Taider might feature tomorrow."

Mazzarri was also asked about Massimo Moratti's visit to the training ground yesterday. "I'm in constant contact with the president and he always makes his presence felt. He likes coming to watch training and I'm pleased that he does. He brings enthusiasm. As for what gets said in private conversations, I've never given you any details in the past and I'm not going to start doing that today."
