MILITO DISHES OUT PRAISE AFTER EMOTIONAL COMEBACK

"The fans have been magnificent. They gave me the strength to come back from that injury at the age of 34. I couldn't list everyone I want to thank"

REGGIO EMILIA – Diego Milito stepped onto the pitch in the 54th minute of today's game against Sassuolo, making his first appearance with the senior side since his knee buckled against Cluj on 14 February 2013. It took him less than ten minutes to prove that he's lost none of his scoring touch, before he capped off what was already a perfect day by adding a second as Inter routed Sassuolo on their own turf.

After the game, Milito shared his joy with Inter Channel. "The coach said he got emotional? I have to thank him. But not just him, the entire coaching staff and of course the president, who has said such nice things about me. It was an emotional moment for me too. I owe everything that happened today to my team-mates."

The Prince also reserved praise for the Nerazzurri fans. "They've been magnificent," he continued. "I've said that a thousand times. They gave me the strength to come back from an injury like the one I had at the age of 34. There are so many people I'd like to thank but I won't start naming them one by one or we'll be here all night. But they all know how grateful I'll always be to them."

Back on the game itself: "It's never easy to score but I must say today the team played phenomenally well. I'm happy with my goals but even more so with our performance and the three points.

"What sort of team have I come back into? A great team, focused and determined that plays very good football. It's never easy to win games like that, even if the scoreline suggests otherwise."
