APPIANO GENTILE – Now it's back to the pitch. Inter must fix their attention on Sassuolo and Walter Mazzarri knows it, which is why he was keen to keep the spotlight firmly on tomorrow's Serie A contest during his pre-match press conference, despite a flurry of questions about matters at club level.
"How am I dealing with all of this? I'm dealing with it the right way by doing what a coach should do, concentrating on the pitch and making sure we don't get distracted by things that are beyond our control. President Moratti was a calming presence at training today and, as the smart footballing man that he is, he urged us on, reminding us that games like tomorrow can be the most difficult of all. He helped me to make sure the players are fully focused.
"Will this project continue? Of course it will. As I said, the president motivated the players to give their very best so that Inter stay on an upwards curve. Everything he does is done for this team and this club.
"Could it help propel us even higher? If the president makes certain decisions, he makes them because he loves this club and because it's for the good of Inter. A change was probably needed, new resources were probably needed to increase production at company level. Meanwhile it's our job to produce the goods on the pitch!
"What do I think of Erick Thohir? I don't like talking about things I have no direct experience of. I've never even met the man. I have to channel my energy into the players and make sure they're focused. As they say, prevention is better than cure."
